1. Bought the cheapest matching lamps I could find at thrift store ($6/pr)
2. Bought the cheapest matching lampshades I could find at the thrift store ($4/pr)
3. Ripped off the fabric on the shades- harder than it looks actually. They used some kinda of retarded adhesive, it stunk, was sticky, and Googone barely took it off!
4. Shook my half-empty spray paint cans to find the fullest one(grey... i think it was actually a grey primer)
5. taped off the little light bulb part.
6. taped off the electrical cord.
7. Spraypainted everything like crazy with my spraypainter nozzle attached(posted about it before)
8. Phoned fifty billion stores and sounded like an idiot trying to explain the type of lightbulb i was looking for.... 'well its antique and it has filament in it....' ....'um lady... they all have filament in them'....yup
9. Drove to the other side of city and spent $20 on 2 light bulbs.... brought them home, one was burnt out already. I went back to exchange it. felt cheap.... is it cheap to exchange light bulbs? i felt like it was.
10. plugged the lights in. the husband says... 'i still don't know if i like them, but they are a bit better when they are turned on'.... i'll take it.
Also thought I'd throw in a pic of the 'music room'... our old front closet....
Jers comment to this was.... 'it would look better if i could get a new black electric guitar, then they would both match.'
As a side note. I have a rant. so that dresser redo thing is still suppose to eventually end up in our room... but do you think i can find a decent closet organizer (cheap one of course...)? I have NEVER seen a closet organize that has made me think... 'wow that would solve all my problems....'
I'll stop there cuz i know i've gone off about that before....
I also have a funny dog video. but thats for another day. just to keep you coming back.
Thanks for the laugh!!! And the lamps are GREAT! p.s. not cheap to return something that didn't work in the first place. However, a month later might have been a bit awkward :)
